REMINDER - Joint Research Programme (PRC) CNRS / University of Toronto - Call for projects 2017

25 July 2017

The CNRS and the University of Toronto are launching a joint call for research projects.

Three grants of 5000 € for the CNRS lead applicants will be funded in 2018.

Context and objectives

The CNRS signed in 2016 a Memorandum of Understanding with the University of Toronto in Canada.
This Memorandum is concretized among other cooperations through a call for projects, launched jointly. It will allow researchers from both organisations to identify, initiate and/or develop collaborative research activities.

Application submission and funding
All applications must be bilateral : the CNRS and the University of Toronto lead applicants must submit corresponding applications to their own organisations for the same project and in the same deadlines.

See the Canadian call for projects

In 2018, this Joint Research Programme (PRC) will allocate three grants for one-year projects. These are non renewable and are jointly selected and funded by the CNRS and the University of Melbourne (see agenda below).
The CNRS support amounts to 5,000 Euro by selected project. It allows the funding of expenses for missions and events organization.
The University of Toronto will do as well for Canadian lead applicants with grants of 7,500 CAD.

In France, the lead applicants of the French research unit must apply at the DERCI (Europe of Research and International Cooperation Office) of the CNRS and use the on-line form on the CoopIntEER application

Warning ! Applications must be approved by the Director of the research unit. None of the applications will be taken into account without this validation. The Director must approve on-line the application by using their Labintel “Administrateur de l’Unité”password.

Eligibility

In France, CNRS researchers, university professors-researchers and researchers from other research organisations working in CNRS research units are eligible.

Assessment

Applications will be assessed simultaneously in each country, by the CNRS and the University of Toronto. The final selection will be joint.

At the CNRS, it will be done by the Institutes.

The following aspects will be evaluated :
* the scientific project (scientific quality, originality of the thematic, clarity of objectives, methodology),
* the interest of the cooperation (complementarity of the teams, added value of the cooperation),
* the potential participation of PhD students and/or young researchers.
